Hello parents, this post is for you! August is here and that means school is right around the corner. Whether your child is just starting elementary school or a senior in high school, there are some first-day essentials you need to buy for them. First, don’t forget your mechanical pencils, pens, and highlighters. Next, buy notebooks, loose leaf paper and binders for each major subject. I like to buy different colors so that my kids know which binder goes with which class. If a binder is too bulky for your child’s desk, then I recommend single subject notebooks or folders to make it easier to carry important papers back and forth to school. Graphing calculators are a must for high school students but check with the school to see if these before you buy one. Some schools provide a daily planner but if not you should pick one up for your child. A daily planner will keep your scholar organized and prepared. The younger the child, the more likely the teacher will request that you sign the planner daily to ensure that you are aware of when assignments are due. Finally, depending upon the age of student, you may want to add to your shopping list: crayons, colored pencils, magic markers, index cards and glue sticks.
